Personal statement

Joshua Peters is research associate at the University of Strathclyde - within the Department of Management Science, specialising in the domain of risk interdependencies. This work aims to inform the development of sophisticated models that accurately capture these interdependencies. With a vision to translate theoretical insights into practical applications, Joshua's research holds significant potential and is currently being applied to enhancing the effectiveness of search and rescue operations, ensuring that responders are better prepared to manage and mitigate compound risks in real-world scenarios under the changing conditions caused by climate change.

Previously, a PhD student at the University of Strathclyde investigating multiple perspectives of climate change risks to freshwater ecosystem services within Scotland. Josh has a particular interest in creating decision making tools for stakeholder risk management, these tools aim to highlight water resource services which are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

Josh's research is multidisciplinary, with the underlying theme being risk management under the threat of climate change.

Research Interests

Josh has a research background which focuses on Climate change impacts, whether this be measuring direct impacts to ecosystems or finding the root causes of ecosystem service degradation. Josh’s research has taken him to many places including: Belize, Tanzania, Fiji and The Maldives.

Projects

Global Environmental Monitoring and Policy (GEMaP) Centre for Doctoral Training: Quantifying the risks and impacts of climate change on water resources in Scotland.
Peters, Joshua (Principal Investigator) Roberts, Jen (Principal Investigator) Quigley, John (Co-investigator)
This is an exciting opportunity to engage in international research to reduce risks of climate change on water resources. The studentship will be developing innovative decision-making techniques as well as identifying potential policy interventions to enhance actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change, or to reduce the impacts of climate change.
